RockFocus
A quiet focus timer that makes repeated effort visible
RockFocus gives focus a visible shape. Choose a label, move a rock uphill, leave an optional thought, and watch your rocks, minutes, rhythms, and returning interests take shape. Records stay on your device and, when available, in private iCloud.
Hi Product Hunt 👋 I’m Jason, the maker of RockFocus.
RockFocus began while I was building another app about breathing. My days were filled with small but necessary tasks—fixing a bug, adjusting an interaction, refining a sound, or rewriting a line. None of them was dramatic, but by the end of the day, it often felt as though all that effort had left no visible trace.
The image of Sisyphus—returning to the same rock and choosing to continue—gave that feeling a shape.
I wanted to build a focus timer that did not ask people to optimise every minute or turn productivity into a competition. RockFocus is quieter than that:
* Choose what a focus session is for
* Move a rock up the hill as time passes
* Leave a short thought afterwards, or leave the moment untouched
* Review your rocks, minutes, calendar rhythms, labels, and returning interests in Ground
* Keep your focus records on your device and, when available, in your private iCloud
RockFocus is free to use, with optional Pro features for people who want to build a fuller long-term practice. That support also helps me continue developing the app.
It is made for developers, designers, researchers, writers, students, and anyone committed to work whose results may take time.
* For this launch, I would especially value your feedback on two things:
* Does the rock metaphor make focused effort feel more tangible?
After completing several sessions, which part of Ground helps you understand your time most clearly?
Thank you for taking a look.
Notice what you keep returning to.
