I live in Michigan and got really heavy into rock hunting this last year and started a YouTube channel dedicated to it last August. Over the winter I started getting the itch to go out and find cool rocks but due to the snow that was not an option. So I decided to put my computer science degree to use and start creating a tool that I could use in the upcoming rock hunting season. So in the end of December I went to work. I am not 100% finished but it is definitely a rock hunting app unlike any other on the market. I have a strong background in affiliate marketing and decided to add an affiliate aspect in hopes to get some other rock content creators involved and help push the product. It solves a lot of the problems that the rock hunting community faces. People are always asking where they should go rock hunting, asking what this cool rock is that they found, asking if the beaches have rocks on them or if they got covered, etc... Not to mention most of us are introverts. So I made a rock buddy matching system which is basically like Tinder (minus the relationship) for rock hunters. I plan on adding a lot more to the app. The community card is far from finished and I have a lot more features planned for the map to make it a more all in one resource. My goal is to make Rock Nerd the one and only rock hounding app you will ever need.
