Who hunted Robinpdf?
Robinpdf was hunted by Roberto. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community. Hi Product Hunt, I'm Roberto, an independent developer from Spain. Robinpdf is a one-person project.
I built it because every PDF site I tried wanted my contract, payslip or ID scan uploaded to a server I knew nothing about, just to merge two files. Here everything runs in the browser (pdf.js, pdf-lib, tesseract.js, qpdf compiled to WebAssembly), so the file never leaves your device. You don't have to trust me on that: turn off your Wi-Fi after the page loads and the tools keep working. robinpdf.com/verify lists the tests.
Most of the last two weeks came from a thread on a Spanish forum where people tried it on their real files: merging a month of invoices into one PDF per day by file name, converting to PDF/A and checking a PDF/A without uploading it (every online validator I found wants the file), repairing PDFs that "are damaged and could not be repaired", signing by typing your name or with a photo of your signature instead of drawing with a mouse, and compressing to exactly the 15 MB a court portal accepts.
Honest limits: it's closed source, the site shows ads (they never see your files), OCR is Tesseract-level, PDF to Excel needs tables with drawn borders, and the PDF/A converter has to redraw pages as images when a file names fonts it doesn't carry — it tells you before converting.
Feedback on anything that feels clunky is very welcome.
