Riff
Riff a post or a reply, written on your device
Riff is a free Chrome extension that turns rough notes into posts for X, LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram, then reworks them on request. It also writes replies and DMs. It runs on Gemini Nano inside Chrome, so nothing leaves your computer. You press Post.
It's for two kinds of people: creators who need to keep up with their audience, and salespeople who say the same thing fifty times a day. When communication is your business, how you say something matters as much as what you say.
Riff is a Chrome side panel, and 0.3.0 adds Riff a post. Click into the post box on LinkedIn, X or Facebook and drop rough notes. Riff drafts the post in your voice, and you ask for changes in plain words: "shorter", "open with the number", "less salesy". Every answer is a new version. Ask for 3 hooks, repurpose the same notes for another site, or start a first message to someone new. Insert puts it in the box.
It still does what it did before: pick any post or DM, paste your point, and Riff writes a reply for that one post, sized to the site.
Three things I cared about:
• It runs on Gemini Nano, the model built into Chrome. No account, no API key, no servers. Your posts, points and replies stay on your computer. • It never posts. Riff fills the box, and you read it and press Post or Send yourself. One post at a time, on purpose. • It only uses your facts. Riff a post works from your notes and won't invent results, clients or numbers. Replies are checked against your last 60 so you don't repeat yourself.
The honest catch: Gemini Nano needs desktop Chrome 138+, about 22 GB of free disk for a one-time download, and either a GPU with more than 4 GB of video memory or 16 GB of RAM. If your machine can't run it, Riff tells you on first open.
It's free. I'd love to know: which site should Riff learn next? Threads, Bluesky, Reddit, YouTube comments, or something else?

Who hunted Riff?
Riff was hunted by Mike Zima. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
