Hey Product Hunt 👋

I’m Miro, the maker of Redacto.

Redacto is not another PDF editor - by design.

Most PDF tools treat redaction as one feature among many. Redacto treats redaction as the entire workflow.

I built it around one focused job:

Import -> Local AI redacts -> You approve -> Export

Instead of manually searching a document and drawing every black box yourself, you drop in a file and Redacto automatically detects sensitive data, places redaction boxes, and lets you approve, reject or adjust each choice before creating the final redacted PDF.

The whole interface is designed around that single purpose. No layout editing, no complex PDF toolbars, no unnecessary features - just a focused redaction flow for sensitive documents.

Redacto supports PDFs, scans, images, DOCX, CSV, JSON, RTF and text files. OCR and AI run locally on your Mac, so documents don’t need to be uploaded to a server.

No document upload.
No account.
No subscription.

I built Redacto for people who handle contracts, invoices, legal docs, HR files, support attachments, admin forms, or documents they want to safely share with clients, coworkers or AI tools.

I’d love your feedback: what types of sensitive data should Redacto detect next?

Who hunted Redacto?

Redacto was hunted by Miro De Carolis. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
