Hi Product Hunt! I'm Ivan, and I built RecastCalc. The problem: most mortgage calculators are built by lenders and lead-generation sites. Many ask for your email or phone number before showing results, and they rarely tell you when the honest answer is "don't bother." Mortgage recasting is a good example. It's one of the cheapest ways to lower your monthly payment without giving up a low rate, yet it's barely explained anywhere, and lender terms are scattered and often contradictory. What RecastCalc does: seven free calculators (recast, PMI removal, biweekly payoff, ARM reset, HELOC vs. cash-out refinance, buy vs. rent, and an "am I underwater?" home equity check), plus plain-English guides. No signup, no email gate. Reference rates update weekly from Freddie Mac data. How it evolved: the first version had a big table of lender recast fees. When I went back to verify it against the lenders' own documents, much of it didn't hold up, including figures that circulate widely online. So I rebuilt the process: every fee, law, and statistic now links to its primary source (servicer pages, state statutes, IRS publications) with the date it was checked. The lender table shrank from 18 names to the 13 servicers that actually publish their terms, but every row is real.
