Whenever I wanted to quickly strip EXIF data or GPS coordinates from a photo before sharing it online, I noticed most free web tools do one of two things:
They upload your files to their servers (a massive privacy risk when dealing with sensitive locations/data).
They process it locally but use HTML5 Canvas, which quietly re-encodes the image and ruins the original quality.
So, I built Real EXIF Remover to solve this. It’s a privacy-first, zero-knowledge metadata scrubber built for people who care about their data.
Here is how it works and what makes it different:
🔒 100% Client-Side & Zero-Knowledge: Your files never leave your device. All processing happens locally in your browser. After the initial page load, it works completely offline. The site uses strict Content Security Policy (CSP) headers that explicitly block outbound network requests for user data.
✨ True Lossless Quality: Instead of redrawing the image, it parses the raw binary stream and surgically deletes metadata headers (EXIF, XMP, IPTC, GPS) while keeping your original pixels and color profiles completely untouched.
⚡ Bulk Processing: You can drop thousands of high-res files at once. It uses Web Workers to offload the binary parsing to background threads so your browser won't freeze. You can then download the clean files in a single ZIP.

I originally built this with professionals (journalists, photographers, lawyers) in mind who need provable privacy, but I wanted to make it free and accessible for everyone.
