ProTourBooking

Freelance crew touring booking application

ProTourBooking is where touring crew post their availability and production companies book them. FOR CREW - Post the dates you are open and let productions find you. Blank days count as available, so you only mark what you cannot work. FOR PRODUCTION - Search live availability by role, gear, certification, home airport and date range. Everyone you see is open on the dates you are looking at. ProTourBooking takes no commission and is free for crew.

As I am in the industry, Booking crew for a tour still runs on text messages, spreadsheets, and a production manager's memory of who was good in Cleveland in 2019. The specific thing that never made sense to me: a production manager holds five people for the same dates because they know four will fall through, and the crew have no idea where they stand. You are "on hold" for a tour, so you turn down other work, and then nobody calls. Everyone in this business has a story about it. ProTourBooking makes holds a real object instead of a text thread. A production places a hold with a tier, the crew member can see it, challenge it if a firm offer comes in elsewhere, and the whole thing has dates and a status rather than living in someone's inbox. Crew post availability once. Productions search by role, gear, certifications, and home airport. I built it solo over the past year, along with a handful of other apps. Being on both sides of this, having been the person waiting on a hold and the person placing them, shaped almost every decision in it. Would genuinely like to hear from anyone who books or works crew. Especially about the parts I got wrong.

Who hunted ProTourBooking?

ProTourBooking was hunted by Megalancer. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
