product-init
9 gates before your AI ships the wrong product
I built this after watching well-engineered products die from no PMF. CB Insights: 43% of startups fail from "no market need" — not bad code. Wrong product. product-init is a Claude Code skill with 9 hard gates between your idea and your deploy. CRITICAL findings block the pipeline. No --skip flag. Works on Claude Code, Codex CLI, OpenClaw. Open source. Free.
Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I built product-init after shipping a product that died in 3 months. The code was perfect, but the market didn't care.
CB Insights reports that "no market need" causes 43% of startup failures. I wanted to solve that by making validation mandatory, not optional.
Product-init is a system of 9 automated gates enforced by Python audit scripts. If the scripts find a CRITICAL issue, the pipeline stops. No --skip flag. No shortcuts.
Gate 1 is the most vital: Who gets fired if this fails? What "job" is the user hiring this product to do? What does failure look like in production?
Until you define the target, build speed is just a faster way to fail.
I'm excited to dive into any questions — why gates over checklists,
how it pairs with Codex /goal, or what Gate 9 catches post-deploy.
