We created PrivatePDF with one goal: make high-quality PDF translation possible without uploading your documents to someone else's server.
Most cloud-based PDF translators require you to upload sensitive files, and many still struggle to preserve complex layouts. We wanted a desktop-first solution that keeps documents on your own computer while delivering translation quality comparable to modern cloud services.
Before building the desktop app, we launched the web version at https://privatepdf.tech. Feedback from real users consistently showed that preserving document layouts matters just as much as translation quality. Those insights became the foundation for PrivatePDF Translator for Desktop.
