PostureGuard
Your quiet posture coach, running locally
PostureGuard monitors your posture in real time using your webcam, but everything stays on your machine. No accounts, no recordings, no cloud processing, just a short calibration, silent background monitoring, and native OS notifications when you start slouching. Built with Python + MediaPipe and fully open source.
I built PostureGuard because I kept catching myself hunched over my laptop for hours without noticing.
I did not want another reminder app, browser extension, or wearable. I wanted something that would quietly run in the background, learn my baseline, and only speak up when I actually started slipping into bad posture.
That is what this does:
• short calibration on launch
• real-time posture checks from your webcam
• local processing only, no video storage
• native system notifications when posture drifts
• no accounts, no tracking, fully open source
It is intentionally simple and privacy-first. Everything runs on your machine, and the webcam frames are discarded immediately after analysis.
I would love feedback from people who spend long hours at a desk: does this solve the problem in a way that feels useful, or is there something missing that would make it genuinely stick?
