Polaris TabOS
Turn your new tab into an operating-system-like environment
Polaris TabOS transforms every new browser tab into a customizable operating-system-like environment. Use multiple desktops, windows, widgets, notes, todos, collections, calendar tools, focus mode, sports, games, command palette, offline support, and more — all inside your browser. It’s local-first, requires no account for local use, supports 8 languages with RTL, and includes backup options when you want them.
Hey Product Hunt
I built Polaris TabOS because I always felt the browser’s New Tab page was wasted space.
I didn’t want to build another dashboard or bookmark page. The idea was to make the New Tab behave more like a lightweight operating system inside the browser — with desktops, windows, a taskbar, widgets, apps, command palette, notes, todos, focus tools, games, calendar tools, and more.
A few things I cared about while building it:
• Local-first by default
• No account required for local use
• No analytics
• Offline-friendly behavior
• 8 languages with RTL support
• Multiple visual templates
• Built-in apps instead of sending you to separate websites for every small task
I’ve been iterating on Polaris for a while and it has grown far beyond the original idea.
I’d really appreciate feedback on the overall concept, UX, and which parts you’d like to see improved or expanded next.
Thanks for checking it out
