PocketCode

An Android IDE with a real terminal, SSH, Postgres & AI

PocketCode is a code editor and IDE for Android phones and tablets: a real Linux terminal, SSH with SFTP and port forwarding, PostgreSQL running inside the app, an API tester (REST, GraphQL, WebSocket, SSE), Git, and C, Python and JavaScript running on the device. The AI assistant uses your own key (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Copilot or any OpenAI-compatible API), and every change it makes can be reviewed and undone. Your code stays on your device. No ads. Free plan, Pro optional.

Hey everyone 👋

I build PocketCode on my own. It's a code editor and IDE that runs on your Android phone or tablet.

Real development still assumes you're sitting at a laptop, but the computer most of us carry all day is a phone. I wanted to open a project, fix the bug, run it and push the commit from there, without setting anything up first.

So it's all in one app: an editor with language servers, a real Linux terminal with SSH and SFTP, PostgreSQL running inside the app (plus connections to Neon, Supabase, MySQL, MongoDB and more), an API tester, a visual designer that exports HTML and CSS, and Git. C, Python and JavaScript run on the device.

The AI uses your own key (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Copilot or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint). I don't resell credits or proxy your requests, and every change the AI makes can be reviewed and undone.

The free plan includes every tool, with room for one of each: one project, one SSH host, one database connection, one API collection. Pro removes those limits and adds AI agents that work on their own. There are no ads, and your code stays on your device.

The hardest and most fun part was getting PostgreSQL and a C compiler to run on a phone.

PocketCode is in open testing on Google Play right now, so you can install it today. It needs Android 9 or later and an account to sign in. I'd love your feedback, especially on what breaks, and I'm here to answer questions 🙏

Who hunted PocketCode?

PocketCode was hunted by PocketCode IDE. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
