Quick story before the pitch.
I've been building WordPress plugins for over 16 years, and the whole time, my plugins have been keeping secrets from me.
How many people actually use them? WordPress.org says "10,000+". Sounds nice. But is that 10,000 or 19,999? That's almost double, and I had no way of knowing.
And even if I knew the exact number, I still couldn't answer the questions that actually matter. What PHP version are my users running? Which WordPress version? What other plugins sit alongside mine? Which server environments should I test against?
