Hi Product Hunt 👋 I'm the solo founder of PlainSignage, building it from Blaricum in the Netherlands. The idea came from a very ordinary frustration: every café, gym and office I visited had a TV on the wall showing either nothing, a static PowerPoint on a USB stick, or a €600 "signage player" with a €40/month licence per screen. Meanwhile the TV itself was already an Android TV. Why buy a box to put in front of a computer that is already there? So PlainSignage runs on the hardware you already own: any Android TV, Fire TV stick, Google TV or a €35 Android box — or simply a browser tab. Install the app, type a 6-letter code, and the screen is live in three minutes. A few things I cared about: • One plan, no tiers. €14.99 for the first screen, €4.99 per extra screen, and every feature is in it — layouts, scheduling, API, phone games. I hate the "Pro" upsell pattern. • No licensed content. There is no radio widget, no TV feed, no stock-photo library with fine print. Every widget uses open data (weather, energy prices, tides, pollen, bike-share, public holidays), public-domain text, or your own data (sheets, calendars, sensors, your camera). Nothing on your screen can get you sued. • Guests as part of the screen. Scan a QR and vote in a poll, request a song, spin a wheel, rate your visit with a smiley, or play "Stop the clock" — a small phone game where you try to stop a timer at exactly 10.00 s and the closest attempts climb a leaderboard on the TV. Bars love it. • Boring reliability: screens keep playing offline, the console shows fleet health and proof of play, and there is an emergency override for every screen at once. It's built by one person, so expect fast fixes and honest answers. I'd love to hear what widget you would want, and what your venue's TV is showing right now. There's a 14-day trial without a credit card, so please try it and roast it. Thanks for having a look!
