Pix

A tiny pixel robot that lives on your Touch Bar

Pix lives in a cozy pixel room on your MacBook Pro's Touch Bar and follows your day. It types at its desk while you code, sits on the couch for videos, wears a headset on calls and strolls by the window while you browse. It also shows how your AI coding agents are doing: typing while they work, waving when they need approval, hopping when they're done. Free, open source, fully private, ~0.03% CPU.

Hey Product Hunt 👋 My Touch Bar spent years showing me buttons I never pressed, so I gave it a tenant. Pix is a little pixel robot that lives there and reacts to what you're doing. It codes when you code, watches when you watch and gets sleepy late at night. It started as a toy. Then I started running AI coding agents all day, and Pix turned into the most useful thing on my desk. A glance at the Touch Bar tells me whether Claude is working, waiting for my approval, or finished. Any tool can drive it through a pix:// URL. A few things I cared about: • 100% local. No accounts, no analytics, nothing leaves your Mac. • Featherlight, around 0.03% CPU. • Free and MIT-licensed. Honest caveat: it needs a MacBook Pro with a Touch Bar (2016–2022) on macOS 14 or newer. If you have one gathering dust, this is for you. Install: brew install eslamalii/tap/pix Tap Pix twice to pet it ♥. I'd love to hear which Spot you'd add next.
