Perigee
Real-time web viewer of artificial objects in space
See every active satellite around the Earth, the spacecraft orbiting the Moon and Mars, and the probes crossing the solar system, in real time and in 3D. Positions computed in your browser from public data (CelesTrak, NASA/JPL Horizons). English and French.
I've been working on Perigee, a real-time 3D viewer of every active object in orbit and beyond.
4 views:
- Earth: every active catalogued satellite (around 16,700), propagated with SGP4 from CelesTrak elements refreshed every few hours. Filter by operator, country, constellation or orbit.
- Moon: active lunar orbiters, plus 50+ landing and impact sites.
- Mars: the orbiters, Phobos and Deimos, landing sites, and the latest positions of Curiosity and Perseverance.
- Solar system: the planets, dwarf planets, 28 moons and 20+ probes (Voyagers, New Horizons, Juno, Parker, Europa Clipper, JUICE, Psyche, Lucy…), with their distance and light travel time.
Click anything for its details. Follow it to get close: the ISS, Hubble, MRO, Juno and about 30 other spacecraft have NASA 3D models. You can speed up time up to ×100,000 and jump to any date.
How it works:
- Every position is computed in your browser: SGP4 for Earth satellites, Hermite interpolation of JPL Horizons vectors for probes, and astronomy-engine for the planets.
- A GitHub Actions pipeline mirrors public data from CelesTrak or Horizons.
- When a position is extrapolated beyond its data, or based on stale elements, it's drawn differently and flagged in the panel.
- Artists impressions and effects (Earth clouds, gas motion on the giants) are labelled when used.

I'd love feedback, especially corrections on mission statuses, here or using the report button on the site.
I'm aware of a bunch of sites and apps displaying similar data especially for Earth's orbit and a few to track space probes, but they tend to focus on satellites or the solar system, usually not both. And as a game dev, I wanted to build a tool that felt smooth and intuitive to use. Art direction and UI layout is inspired by the Halo franchise.

Who hunted Perigee?
Perigee was hunted by David Fugère-Lamarre. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community. See the full all-time top hunters leaderboard to discover who is shaping the Product Hunt ecosystem.
