Peren

Self-hosted Workers and Durable Objects

Run Cloudflare-style Workers and Durable Objects on your own infrastructure with V8 isolates, SQLite-backed durable state, S3-compatible recovery, explicit compatibility, and fleet operations.

Hi Product Hunt, We’re building Peren, an Apache-2.0 open-source runtime for running Cloudflare-style Workers and Durable Objects on infrastructure you control. You bring machines and an S3-compatible bucket. Peren runs JavaScript and WebAssembly in V8 isolates, gives each stateful object SQLite-backed storage, and handles routing, deploys, rollback, and recovery across a fleet. We started on this because we like the Workers/Durable Objects programming model, but not every workload fits a hosted edge platform. Sometimes the runtime needs to live inside your own network, near existing data, under your own release process, or on hardware you already operate. A Peren fleet can be one node or many. Each Durable Object-style instance is represented internally as a cell: one stateful execution unit, one SQLite database, and one current owner. Ownership is fenced by epochs and signed leases, so if a node dies and another node recovers the cell, the old owner cannot keep committing state. We’d love feedback from people building platforms, running edge workloads, or operating self-hosted infrastructure

Who hunted Peren?

Peren was hunted by Emmanuel Adebayo. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
