PayShare
Track and share your expenses privately via iCloud.
PayShare automatically captures Apple Wallet payments and shares all your transactions (income & investments too) with trusted iCloud users. No third-party servers/databases involved for storing user's information, only Apple's. No AI, no analytics, no bank syncs. Available on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS (native) and in 10 languages.
Most expense-sharing tools require creating new accounts, store your financial data on their own servers, ask for bank credentials, have cluttered dashboards, rely on manual entry entirely, don't allow sharing with other people and other things could be said.
PayShare solves the privacy aspect by running entirely on Apple's CloudKit. There is no backend. When you connect with a friend, the app syncs directly between your iCloud accounts, and your data always lives in your own private database.
A few things I focused on: - simple mental modal with essential tabs and screens only: Timeline, Analytics, Plans (Budgets, Savings, Investments), Settings and Search. No complicated dashboards, charts. Monthly based time frame only used (at the moment) - supports iOS Widgets and there are 2 Shortcuts Actions for quickly adding expenses and income transactions. The "Add Expense" action must be used with a Shortcuts Automation to capture each payment done with Apple Wallet. After payment a pop-up with the in-app expense categories will appear, tap and assign category and that's it (no need to open the app) - you can hide specific transactions from specific connections - by default everyone can edit other people's transactions (as it's often needed, partner won't assign category after payment for example, if you don't wait for the pop-up expenses captured this way get "uncategorized" label) - there is also the "investments" category which offer analytics in "Analytics" and "Plans" sections. Developed in-house a backend which fetches current market prices for the user's financial assets (stocks, etc, anything available in Yahoo Finance) and calculate unrealized/realized Profit/Loss and other statistics. - all screens focus on seeing connection's transactions as well and aggregated values can be seen by multi-selection of users. - there is integration with Apple Health for the feature of creating special "guilt free budgets" based on user's data, currently only number of steps, running minutes, mindfulness minutes. Users can choose certain values from his/her activity to correspond to a certain amount of money unlocked for a certain expense category to be allocated after a chosen time period - there are other features as well like recurring transactions, quickly toggle in a secondary currency all values in relevant screens, and others
