PayCheck

Track your money. Your records stay on your phone.

A money tracker that doesn't take a copy of your life. No account, no sign-up, opens to your numbers. Records are SQLCipher-encrypted and never leave the device. New country? Flip the display currency once — everything converts, even offline. 95% is free — the paid 5% is deeper analytics and no ads. If a small crowd turns up this year, two big updates follow, free on day one for everyone: iOS, Windows and macOS, then a shared space — your household's money visible to each other, never to me.

Hi Product Hunt, I'm Vadym.

I built PayCheck because I got tired of finance apps where half of it sits behind a paywall. Analytics — premium. A real backup — premium. Sometimes you can't even add your own categories without a subscription. So a money app ends up made for people who already have money. I wanted the opposite.

The idea is stubborn but simple: 95% free. All the normal tracking — income, expenses, accounts, categories, goals, searching your history — no subscription, no "pay to see your own spending." The paid 5% is the part you can live fine without: deeper analytics, no ads. Mostly people pay to see their money more clearly, and to keep a one-person project alive — that's reason enough for me. The line I drew is simple: the free version never costs you your data. You can back it up and walk away with it whenever you like. There's more on the paid side than I've listed here, but I'd rather you stumble into it than have me sell it to you.

The other half matters just as much. Your bank obviously sees your transactions — that's unavoidable, and I'd never pretend otherwise. But there's no reason a tracking app needs to pull your whole financial picture into its own cloud on top of that. Your records are encrypted on your phone and they don't leave it. The app works with your data without taking a copy for itself. For me that's not ideology — it's just being able to breathe out.

Currency came from somewhere just as real: people close to me left their country, and their money had to follow — into a new currency, without losing track of where it came from. Flip the display currency once and balances, history, analytics and goals all recalculate instantly. The rates ship inside the app itself, so none of this needs a live connection. Every record still keeps its original currency underneath, so switching back isn't a guess — the numbers match exactly.

No account, no sign-up, works offline, opens instantly. Log a transaction, get on with your day.

I built this solo, at night after work, for people with a lot on their plate and not much money. So my ask today is simple: try it and tell me what's missing. Two big updates are already locked in, and both arrive free in the version you already have: first iOS, Windows and macOS, then a shared space — your own devices holding the same records, and after that your household seeing each other's finances openly, none of it passing through me. What comes after those two is an open list — and today is the best day to put your line on it. I'm reading the thread all day.
