Payback: Money & Expenses
Track who owes what — without a login or a bank connection
Payback is a local-first money tracker built on three buttons: I gave, I got, I spent. Track dues with friends, split expenses, log spending, and manage recurring bills — then share a clean summary on WhatsApp. No account required, no bank connection, no data collected. Your records stay on your device.
Hi PH 👋
I'm Nivesh, the solo dev behind Payback. I made it because I kept losing track of small everyday money — who I lent to, who owed me, whether I'd already paid a bill, what I actually spent this month. My old system was Notes + WhatsApp scrollback + screenshots, and it fell apart the moment I needed a real total.
Every other app wanted me to connect my bank, create an account, and basically become an accountant for what is really just a memory problem. So I went the other way: local-first, no login, no bank connection, nothing collected. Your data lives on your device, with optional encrypted backup if you want it — your call.
Three buttons cover it: I gave, I got, I spent. Plus per-person history, equal/exact/percentage splits, recurring bills, reminders, and a clean WhatsApp summary for settling up. And because I built it in India, it even tracks daily milk and grocery deliveries — niche, but my favorite small detail.
What it's deliberately not: a budgeting platform, a bank-sync app, or a debt-collection tool.
It's free. There's an optional Pro ($0.99/mo, or $19.99 once) that mostly helps me keep building this solo — the core stays free.
I shipped v1 in early April and I'm on v5 now, iterating fast on feedback.
The one thing I'd love you to tell me: is it clear what Payback does within the first screen? That's the part I'm least sure of. Roast away — I'll reply to everything.
