Hi Product Hunt — I’m Grant, the maker of paintr.
paintr started as a gift for my wife. She loves spending hours with a paint-by-number puzzle, and I wanted her to be able to paint pictures that already mean something to her.
Choose your own photo or an artwork from the collection, pick how much detail you want, and paint at your own pace. You can also send someone the same puzzle as a blank copy—or make it a surprise they uncover as they paint. Your original photo file and your painting progress are not included when you share.
I built paintr with Astra through Codex, then shaped it through hands-on feedback from my wife and other testers. Those sessions led to gentler navigation, easier selection of tiny spaces, and a more comfortable experience for long painting sessions.
Photo conversion happens on your device. paintr is free, with no ads or subscriptions. The public TestFlight beta is available now through https://paintr.dev/. Version 1.0 is submitted to Apple; its App Store release is pending review.
