Why I built it
I use AI chats all day while browsing: summarizing articles, explaining confusing paragraphs, rewriting text, fact-checking. Every time it was the same routine: select text, copy, open a chat tab, paste, type the instruction I always type. After doing this a hundred times in a week, I figured it should be one click.
What it does
Page to Prompt is a bridge between the page you’re reading and the AI you already use. Right-click or press Cmd+Shift+P, choose what to send (highlighted text, page content, URL or title), pick your prompt and your AI, and it opens with everything filled in. It works with Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity, Copilot and Qwen.
How it evolved
It started as a simple “send selection to ChatGPT” button, then grew into a saved-prompt manager with a {{SELECTED_TEXT}} variable, so I could reuse prompts instead of retyping them.
Raw page text was too noisy, so Page Content now uses Readability with my own improvements on top, which gives much cleaner input.
Starting a new chat for every prompt was annoying, so the extension now remembers each AI tab and continues the same conversation. You can even use several AIs at once.
It uses your own AI accounts. The extension only passes the page to the AI, nothing else.
