I'm Jacob, the creator of OutsideView.
I built OutsideView because I noticed that many people don't actually need more information when they're struggling with a decision—they need a different perspective.
Most online platforms optimize for attention, popularity, or engagement. OutsideView is built around a different idea:
"What would someone with a completely different life experience think about this?"
Users can share stories anonymously and receive perspectives from parents, students, professionals, people from different cultures, and others they might never normally meet.
Some of my favorite moments while testing the platform were seeing people say:
"I never would have thought about it that way."
That's the outcome I hope OutsideView can create more often.
