OtpVault
Zero-knowledge desktop 2FA authenticator
A secure, zero-knowledge desktop 2FA authenticator. Encrypted vault, cloud backup, open source.
Hi Product Hunt! 👋
I'm Hassan, a 16-year-old student and self-taught full-stack developer. I'm super excited to introduce OtpVault today! 🚀
I built OtpVault because I wanted a 2FA authenticator that gives me complete control over my data. Relying on a single mobile device is risky, and most cloud-based authenticators don't offer true zero-knowledge encryption.
So, I built a solution from scratch.
Here is what makes OtpVault special:
🔒 Zero-Knowledge Architecture: Your TOTP secrets are encrypted locally using AES-256-GCM. The key is derived from your password via Argon2id and never leaves your device.
☁️ Encrypted Cloud Sync: Backups are securely synced, but the server never sees your plaintext data.
⚡ Fast & Lightweight: Built with Rust, Tauri, and React, it uses a fraction of the RAM compared to Electron apps.
It is 100% open-source under the MIT license, and the entire build pipeline runs transparently on GitHub Actions.
I would love for you to try it out, review the code, and let me know your thoughts or feedback! I'll be here all day answering your questions.
Thank you for your support! ❤️
