Otalan
OTA updates and rollback for Expo and Capacitor apps
Ship web-layer app updates without waiting for App Store or Play Store review. Otalan gives Expo and Capacitor teams dashboard/CLI publishing, staged rollouts, rollback, runtime targeting, release history, analytics, and open-source CLI/SDKs.
Hello,
I’m launching Otalan v1, a CodePush-style OTA update and rollback platform for Expo and Capacitor apps.
The idea is simple: mobile teams should be able to ship web-layer updates quickly and safely, with control over rollouts, runtime compatibility, and rollback.
Existing solutions often focus on a single platform or come with strict MAU-based limits and quotas. Otalan supports both Expo and Capacitor, has no MAU-based restrictions, and comes with generous quotas.
The dashboard is SaaS, while the CLI and SDKs are open source.
v1 includes dashboard/CLI publishing, Expo + Capacitor support, staged rollouts, pause/resume, rollback, release history, app/publish keys, analytics, docs, and AI skills.
Next up: signed bundles, unified releases, and BYOS (bring your own storage).
I’d love your feedback, especially if you ship Expo or Capacitor apps.

Who hunted Otalan?
Otalan was hunted by Arslan Bouzid. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
