Orby

Your desktop's all-in-one productivity orb

Orby brings the convenience of notch-style desktop tools to Windows through a movable, customisable orb. Its standout feature is keeping one useful activity visible when the orb is closed: a focus timer, current music, or a supported AI coding tool’s reported usage allowance. AI Playground detects supported Codex, Claude Code and Antigravity installations, showing remaining allowances when those tools report them.

I liked how notch apps make everyday tools feel close at hand on a Mac, and wanted to bring that convenience to Windows. The problem was all the small interruptions: opening another app to check a timer, find something I copied, control music or check an AI coding tool’s remaining allowance. I wanted one compact place for those moments. Orby started as a desktop orb with quick utilities. As I built it, the closed orb became just as important as the expanded dashboard. “Show on orb” lets you keep one useful activity visible while continuing your work. The process also taught me how much the details matter: readable text, responsive interactions, useful customisation and a simple installation experience. The aim became making the tools feel comfortable enough to use every day.

Who hunted Orby?

Orby was hunted by Abid Khan. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
