Orate

The teleprompter that doesn't lose your take

Most teleprompter apps fill the screen with your script, so your eyes visibly travel to read it. Orate keeps the script in a narrow band right under the front camera, so you stay looking at the lens. Takes are crash-safe: if the app is killed mid-recording, you keep everything up to that second. Read times are measured per language, not from an English word count. No account, no watermark, nothing uploaded, and it works offline. 12 languages, iPhone and Android.

Hey Product Hunt 👋 I built Orate because every teleprompter app I tried had the same tell: the script fills the screen, so your eyes travel to read it, and anyone watching can see them move. Orate puts the script in a band directly under the front camera. Turn the phone and the band follows the lens to its new edge. Two things I cared about more than features: You never lose a take. The file on disk can be played the whole time you record. A call, a dead battery, or the OS killing the app leaves you everything up to that second. On a test handset, a take killed at 3:58 recovered 3:56. Nothing leaves your phone. No account and no upload. The whole app works in airplane mode. There's no server holding your scripts, so there's nothing to leak and no privacy policy that can quietly change. Also: read times are worked out per writing system, not from an English word count. The same 300 words are 2:00 in English, 2:18 in Hindi and 2:37 in Tamil. Orate is fully translated into 12 languages, including Arabic and Hebrew with right-to-left layout. Free has no watermark and never will. Export and crash-safe recording are free too. Pro adds 4K, HDR, 60fps and unlimited scripts. I'd love to hear what you record, and what gets in your way when you do.

Who hunted Orate?

Orate was hunted by Gajendra Singh Rathore. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
