OpenScan

A 100% free mobile document scanner with no watermarks

I was tired of scanner apps requiring subscriptions and forcing watermarks, so I built my own utility app (OpenScan) in Flutter. As a veteran doing a VA claim, I needed to scan many docs to upload to their site. As a solo developer, I decided to try to make something to fix this need. It's ad-supported to stay free, but the first scan is completely ad-free. Let me know what you think! Please check out all the added features.

While working on VA claim recently, I needed a scanning app to upload documents. I ended up paying $5 for one to remove the watermarks for a month. As a veteran, I wanted to help other vets be able to be able to do this process more easily and for free. In the end I believe I made a good product for all people to use, with many features that match the quality of paid scanner apps. Please check it out and spread the word.

Who hunted OpenScan?

OpenScan was hunted by David Burns. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
