OpenMarketAlerts

Insider buy alerts without picking the stock first

I wanted to know when any CEO puts $500k into their own company, or three insiders buy the same small cap in a month, without picking the stock first. Most alert tools can't do that, so I built it. 10b5-1 plan trades are left out by default.

Hey PH! I'm Philippe, I built OpenMarketAlerts.

CEOs, CFOs and directors have to tell the SEC within two business days when they buy or sell their own company's stock (it's called a Form 4). It's all public, but it's scattered across thousands of filings a day, and the free sites mostly hand you a giant table. I wanted something that would just tell me when it matters, and the signal I care about is a cluster buy: several insiders buying the same stock within a few weeks.

The part I spent the most time on is the alerts. Most tools I tried let you pick a ticker and get an email, and that's about it. Here you describe the kind of buy you're after, and it watches the whole market for it. Things like:

- a CEO or CFO buying more than $500k at one of the 20 biggest US companies
- 3+ insiders buying the same healthcare stock within two weeks
- an insider opening a brand-new position
- anything the people on your watchlist do

Pro also has a handful of ready-made ones you turn on with one tap.

You can also filter on company size, how much an insider added to their stake, how the stock moved the day before, whether the filing came in late, or how the buyer's past buys did. Pre-planned 10b5-1 trades are left out by default (you can turn them back on). Alerts go out by email, push on the Android app (iOS is coming), or browser notification.

Outside of alerts, there's a performance section showing how cluster buys did after they became public, and which insiders and companies have the best record. Every insider also gets a page with all their buys and sells across every company they've been at, and how their past buys played out. Company pages put each trade right on the price chart.

Free gets you the real-time feed, every company and insider page, and one alert on up to 3 companies or insiders. Pro unlocks every filter, unlimited alerts, the scores, the full screener, insider track records and the performance boards. There's a 14-day trial.

The one I actually keep on is a CEO buying near the 52-week low, even though my own backtest says those tend to keep falling for a while. What would yours be? I'm here all day.

Who hunted OpenMarketAlerts?

OpenMarketAlerts was hunted by Philippe Goncalves. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
