Hey everyone,
I built OpenDev AI to solve a problem I kept facing while exploring open-source projects — finding issues is easy, but understanding and fixing them takes time, especially across unfamiliar codebases.
The idea was simple: what if an AI agent could read a repo, understand an issue, fix it, and open a PR automatically?
While building this, the biggest challenge was making the system reliable — not just generating code, but validating it with tests and avoiding broken PRs. I also added a security scanning feature to detect things like exposed API keys or unnecessary files.
Right now it’s designed for personal use and experimentation, but I’m planning to improve accuracy, add better repo understanding, and make the workflow smoother.
