On-device AI asks why before you scroll
Your apps run you on autopilot. Meridian gives you back.
Meridian is a privacy-first Android app that puts a moment of intention between you and your most-used apps. Before you open Instagram or TikTok, Kairos, Meridian's on-device AI asks why you're there. No cloud. No data collection. No subscription. One-time purchase. Built for people who already know they have a phone problem and want a tool that respects their intelligence instead of gamifying their behavior. The AI runs entirely on your device. Your patterns stay yours.
I'll be honest about how I actually use this.
I built Meridian because blockers never worked for me. I'd override them in 10 seconds. What I needed wasn't a wall, it was a question and a space for clarity.
The overlay doesn't block you. It asks what you came for. Early on while building it, I dismissed it constantly, which is data in itself, it created a different kind of internal friction that led to where I actually wanted to go, a real positive loop. We spend so much of our life externalizing our experiences, how much do we really know ourselves? With all the external noise and signal we're subjected to, a genuine digital space to reflect can be hard to come by.
When I started taking it seriously as a user for testing, I'd set an intention, and if I couldn't answer the question honestly, I'd hit the button back to Meridian and spend two minutes in the Rest feature just breathing. Paying attention to my breath and feeling my dopamine and cortisol levels regulate. Broke the pull I had become addicted to, yearning for constant motion and newness that left my goals stranded undone. I regained myself and got back to work on my genuine goals.
That's the loop the app is designed around. Not restriction. Redirection.
The quote to "Know Thyself" at the top rotates across cultural variants of the same idea.
The free tier logs your responses so you can see your own patterns. Unlock Kairos and the on-device AI starts reflecting them back to you based on whatever custom prompt you set for yourself.
Nothing leaves your phone. Ever.
Happy to answer anything about how it's built or why I made the choices I made.
