OmuType
Cantonese voice keyboard that keeps your English words
OmuType is an Android keyboard designed for how people in Hong Kong actually communicate: mixing Cantonese and English in the same sentence. Unlike conventional voice typing that may misinterpret this mix, OmuType preserves colloquial Cantonese, keeps English words intact, and types in Hong Kong Traditional Chinese. It also offers voice corrections and multiple input methods. Typing is free, with 10 minutes of free voice typing per week.
We started building OmuType around a simple observation: people in Hong Kong naturally mix Cantonese and English in everyday conversations, but conventional voice typing doesn't always capture the way they speak.
We wanted to create a keyboard that understands this natural combination rather than converting everything into Mandarin-style written Chinese or misrecognising English words.
OmuType brings together Cantonese voice typing, Hong Kong Traditional Chinese, multiple input methods, and voice-based corrections in one Android keyboard.
We're launching to introduce OmuType to the community, learn from users, and continue improving the experience.
If you speak Cantonese or regularly switch between languages, we'd love to hear how you type on your phone and what would make the experience better.

Who hunted OmuType?
OmuType was hunted by Anil Prabhakar. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
