Hey Product Hunt! I'm Sunil, maker of Ognom. I've spent almost 10 years working with MongoDB, and in that time I've tried pretty much every GUI client out there. Every one of them had the same problem: one or two things I loved, a bunch of things that were frustrating, and the features I actually needed sitting behind a paywall. Tools like Studio 3T are great, but the pricing just isn't realistic for a lot of developers, especially solo devs and small teams. The thing that finally pushed me to build my own was aggregation pipelines. A big part of my work is optimizing them, and I could never find a client that showed me what was happening stage by stage. I wanted to know how many docs came out of each stage, where the drop-off was, and how long each stage took. Nobody had it. So Ognom's aggregation builder does exactly that: one card per stage, run to any point, and per-stage doc counts and timing right there. The other big one was safety. I've seen too many "oops, that was prod" moments. In Ognom you mark a connection as production and it opens read-only every single time. The block is enforced at the API layer, so no shortcut, shell command or $out stage can write around it. Edit mode is an explicit, session-only switch, and destructive actions are deliberately slow: dropping a collection makes you type its name and offers a BSON dump first. Bulk delete with an empty filter just refuses to run. Some other things I'm happy with: Copy a collection to another database or a completely different host, streamed in batches with live progress, indexes included Diff two collections (even across servers) by _id, see field-level changes, then sync Schema analysis: sample up to 10k docs and see types per field, mixed-type percentages and coverage Explain output right above the query input, including the index a collection scan is begging for, with one click to create it A real mongosh-style shell, live currentOp with kill, profiler, unused index detection Eight themes, three densities, and it's native (Rust + Tauri), so it starts fast and stays light Ognom is free, MIT licensed, no account, no telemetry, and no locked premium tabs. That part was non-negotiable for me. Runs on macOS, Windows and Linux. I'd love feedback from other MongoDB folks, especially the ones who've been burned by a bad delete or spent a night staring at a slow pipeline. What's missing? What would make you switch?
