OctoFlat
The shared household app for couples and roommates
Split expenses, manage chores and share shopping lists with the people you live with. Free on web and Android, with receipt scanning that does the math for you.
I built OctoFlat because I got annoyed with the apps my girlfriend and I were using.
We were using different apps for things like shopping and keeping track of who paid for what. They all worked, but none of them quite worked the way we wanted.
I'm a software architect and engineer, so eventually I decided to build the thing I wanted instead.
OctoFlat is my attempt at putting the everyday household stuff in one place: shopping lists, shared expenses, chores, tasks and more.
I know there are already plenty of apps in this space. I'm not trying to pretend I invented the concept. I just wanted to build something that worked the way my girlfriend, our friends and I actually wanted to use it.
Some of our friends are already using it, and I'm now looking for people outside my immediate circle to try it and tell me what sucks.
If you try it, I'd genuinely love to know:
What's confusing?
What's missing?
What takes too many taps?
What would make you actually keep using it?
I'm a developer, so if enough people tell me something is annoying, there's a pretty good chance I'll end up changing it.
