NotesQR - P2P file sharing

Unlimited, Free, Private, Anonymous, NO signup, ZERO storage

NotesQR is free peer-to-peer file sharing over WebRTC: no signup, no size limits, and files are not stored on our disks. Create a room, share a short link or QR, keep the sender online while the other side downloads. Works in the browser, Windows/Mac apps, Chrome/Firefox extensions, plus a CLI and MCP for agents. Unlike upload-and-store tools, both peers stay connected during the transfer. Optional room password, folder share with relative paths, and Close-after-download (--once).

Top comment

NotesQR was built around a simple idea: sharing private files shouldn't mean creating an account, hitting arbitrary size caps, or leaving copies sitting on someone else’s cloud.

It’s just a live P2P transfer over WebRTC. You open a room, send a link or QR, and keep the tab open until the other side finishes downloading. The servers only handle signaling (and TURN fallback if needed)—the actual bytes move directly device-to-device and never touch a disk.

A few quick details:

- No signups and no size limits.
- Supports full folder transfers with relative paths preserved.
- Optional passwords and auto-close (--once).
- Works on web, desktop apps, browser extensions, plus CLI and MCP for AI agent workflows.

Quick CLI example:
npx -y github:NotesQR/notesqr-share send ./file.pdf --once

The main tradeoff is obvious: if the sender closes the tab early, the transfer stops. That’s the price of not storing anything in the cloud.

We’d love to hear your thoughts, especially from anyone handling large builds, folder trees, or agent automations. Happy to answer any questions!
