Makes your Notch more fun, interactive and useful.
NotchMate puts Notchy, a small furry monster, in your notch. It peeks, waves on unlock, wears glasses during focus, and goes quiet when you're busy. Open the notch for: -Music with album art and controls -Zen: synced karaoke lyrics or ambient visuals -Weather, calendar, Pomodoro -Clipboard history and file shelf -Window snap and camera mirror -Lid fold: the desktop folds as you close it Customize its color and fur. macOS 14+, works also without a notch, I added 9 languages.
Hey, I'm Bora. I'm a solo developer and for the last few months most of my evenings went into this app.
When I got a MacBook, I kept looking for something that would make the notch fun. I found a few apps that turn it into a widget bar, and they're fine, but none of them felt alive or different. I wanted something with a bit of personality. Couldn't find it, so I built it.
NotchMate puts a small furry monster called Notchy in your notch. He peeks out, waves when you unlock your Mac, puts on glasses when you start a focus timer, and stays quiet when you're busy. Hover or click the notch and it opens into a panel with the stuff I actually use every day:
-Music - Spotify and Apple Music with album art, a live spectrum and real controls
-Zen - full-screen synced lyrics (karaoke style) or ambient visuals while a song plays
-Weather, today's calendar and a Pomodoro timer
-Clipboard history - your screenshots land there automatically
-File shelf - drop a file on the notch, drag it out later or AirDrop it
-Window snap - halves, quarters, thirds
-Mirror - quick camera check before a call
-Lid fold - close the lid and the desktop folds with it (optional and a bit silly, I love it)
You can change Notchy's color and the fur around the panel or turn the fur off completely. If he gets too chatty there's a no-distraction mode.
It runs on macOS 14+, works on Macs without a notch too (it draws one), and I added 9 languages. It only asks for a permission when you turn on the feature that needs it. $14.99 lifetime or $3.99/month, with a 14-day refund if it's not for you.
This is my first real launch, so honest feedback means a lot. Especially the stuff that annoys you.
