Nodex
Local-first AI notes with Markdown and GGUF models
Nodex is a local-first notes workspace for capturing thoughts, searching your vault, opening visual boards, and asking private AI questions with local GGUF models through llama.cpp.
Hey Product Hunt,
I built Nodex because I wanted a notes app that felt fast like an IDE, private like plain files, and useful with AI without sending my notes to the cloud.
Nodex is a local-first Markdown notes workspace. You can capture quick thoughts into daily notes, search your full vault with SQLite full-text search, open simple visual boards, and optionally connect a local GGUF model through llama.cpp to ask questions over your notes.
The important part: AI is optional. Notes, search, daily capture, and boards work immediately. If you want private local AI later, you can point Nodex at your llama.cpp binary and GGUF models.
What it includes today:
- Markdown notes stored locally
- fast SQLite full-text search
- daily quick capture
- Context Radar for related/overlapping notes
- Inkboard visual boards
- optional local RAG with GGUF models
- no cloud sync
- no app telemetry
It is early, paid, and intentionally small. I am building it for people who want a private notes workspace that does not turn their knowledge base into someone else’s training data.
Would love feedback on the workflow, positioning, and what would make local AI setup feel easier.
