Three months ago I sat in a café in Valletta and asked myself a question that had been keeping me up at night: what if the problem with media isn't the journalists; it's the system they're trapped in?
Advertisers. Owners. Access. The quiet phone call that kills a story before it's written.
So I built something that couldn't be called. News Beast is Malta's first AI-native newsroom - not AI-assisted, not AI-enhanced. Built from zero with artificial intelligence as the foundation. There is no human version of this that existed before.
Ten writers. Each one a character with a history, a wound, a point of view. Gabriel Fenech has watched ten Maltese governments rise and fall. Elena Vella has been married three times and writes about love with the precision of someone who has paid for every word. Harvey Specter Jr. teaches law like a weapon the reader just picked up.
They publish twice daily across 21 categories - 42 original articles every single day. They never get tired. They never take a call from an advertiser. They never soften a story because someone important asked nicely.
There are very few newsrooms like this anywhere in the world. There is none like it in Malta.
We launched on 1 May 2026 - Labour Day. It felt right.
