NetShare Player
Self-hosted media streaming. No account required.
NetShare Player turns your computer into a private media and file server. Browse, stream, download, upload and manage files from your phone on the local network, or connect remotely through a tunnel configured by the host. No NetShare account or subscription is required.
Hi,
I'm actually the independent developer behind Mélo Technology, and I'd love to share NetShare Player & Server.
I started working on NetShare because I wanted a simple way to access my personal files and stream media between devices without having to rely on cloud storage or deal with linking my accounts when I just need to share my personal data across my devices.
What started as a personal idea eventually grew into an application that I decided to share publicly.
How does it work? Well, NetShare Server runs on your computer and lets you choose which folders to share. Then, NetShare Player connects to your server, allowing you to browse files, watch videos, listen to music, view photos, and download content. Local connections work without an internet connection, and of course, if you want to access your data remotely, you can do so through multiple options built into the application.
I made sure NetShare would be available on most platforms. Right now, it's available on Android through the Google Play Store and Huawei AppGallery. On Windows, you can find it on the Microsoft Store as NetShare Server or on the official website. For Mac and Linux, you can download it from the official website. And because I value transparency, you can find the source code on the GitHub page. Of course, I'm still working on launching it on the App Store, and I'm also working on a web platform that I plan to launch soon.
I'm also working on improving performance, security, and device compatibility.
As an independent developer, I'm particularly interested in what you think about the setup experience, the approach to self-hosted media streaming, and which features would make NetShare more useful to you.
What would you improve or add?
