NetPulse
A local Mac network monitor that lives in your menu bar
NetPulse is a native Mac utility for seeing how busy your connection is, which app is using it, and whether your VPN is active. It shows live speeds in the menu bar or a floating panel, HTTPS response time, request failure rate and latency stability across three targets—not ICMP packet loss—exit/local/real public IP, and per-app traffic. Daily, weekly and monthly totals stay on the Mac. No account, ads, analytics or subscription. $1.99 once on the Mac App Store.
Hi Product Hunt — I’m Yuxin, the solo developer behind NetPulse. I built it after getting tired of switching between Activity Monitor, browser IP checks, and heavier network tools just to answer a few simple questions: Is my connection slow? Which app is using it? Is the VPN actually active? What has used the most data this week?
NetPulse keeps those answers in the menu bar and a small panel. The optional Network Extension only counts bytes and allows every connection; it does not inspect content or destinations. Traffic history stays on the Mac.
It’s a one-time $1.99 purchase. I’d love to hear which network detail you check most often, and what still feels missing.
