Hey PH! I'm Chaz, the person who built Neatkit — and I want to be upfront about a few things. I built this because I was personally frustrated. Every time I needed to compress a video for WhatsApp or merge a couple of PDFs quickly, I'd find a "free" tool that either made me wait through an upload, capped the quality unless I paid, or just felt wrong about where my files were going. I'm a CS student in Nairobi and I had enough WebAssembly knowledge to know it didn't have to work that way. So I built the tool I wanted to exist. 19 tools so far, all running in the browser, all free, all without your files ever hitting a server. You can verify the last part — open DevTools and watch the Network tab while you use any tool. Nothing goes out. A few honest things: The video compression tool is slow on large files. Browser-based encoding uses your CPU rather than cloud servers, so a 10-minute video will take a while. I say so upfront on the tool. Short clips are fast. The AI detector is a statistical analysis tool, not a magic classifier. It tells you which specific patterns it found and why — it doesn't give you a verdict and pretend it's certain. I think that honesty is more useful than a black-box score. I'm still building. An audio extractor is next. The blog is new. The site launched about a month ago. Happy to answer any questions about how any of the tools work technically, what's coming next, or anything else. This is genuinely a one-person project so feedback lands directly with the person who can act on it. Thanks for checking it out 🙏 — Chaz, from Nairobi 🇰🇪

Who hunted NeatKit?

NeatKit was hunted by Charles Kariuki. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
