Hi everyone! 👋 I’m Benjamin, the solo developer behind Nearish. The inspiration for this app came directly from my own life. My girlfriend, Angelica, lives in the Philippines, and standard messaging apps just weren't cutting it for us. I wanted something that made the thousands of miles between West Michigan and the Philippines feel a little less daunting. I built Nearish to bring her world directly to my home screen. Being able to see her local weather and our distance right on my phone, or sending a physical haptic "touch" that she can actually feel, completely changes the dynamic of a long-distance relationship. What started as a personal project to help me count down the days until my next flight out to visit her has evolved into a fully E2EE space for couples to share moments securely without the noise of typical social media. I'm incredibly excited to share it with other couples dealing with the distance. I’d love to hear your feedback or answer any questions you have about the app!
