I built Nawtch because I wanted a calorie tracker I could easily use on my phone that was snappy fast, gave me granular control over the details, and wasn't gated by app installs, sign-ups, and paywalls.
Nawtch has no signup. No paywall — every feature is unlocked for everyone. It runs entirely in your browser (IndexedDB, no backend), so your data stays on your device and never leaves it.
My main goal was just adding saved foods, macro, calorie and cost logging. But, I slowly began adding more features:
• Barcode scanning (via Open Food Facts)
• Weight tracking with graphs
• A full history of every daily log, grouped by weeks and months
• A workout program & custom exercise builder
• A custom meal builder with over 300 ingredients to choose from
• Helpful tools, guides and diet options
Every feature is there because I actually wanted it while using the app myself — nothing added just to pad a features list. That's kept things simple enough for someone just starting out, while still giving people who track closely the granular control they're after.
This might seem like just another calorie tracker, but it's more than that to me. It's the free, no-nonsense, snappy, ready-to-go, all-around fitness tracker accessible on any device and I actually enjoy using.
Would love feedback, especially on where the UX still has rough edges. Happy to answer anything about how/why it's built the way it is.
