Naija Farm
A farming game set in Nigeria, free in your browser
I wanted a farming game that feels like home, so I built one. Plant ugu, maize, cassava and yam. Raise hens, goats and catfish. Hire helpers, turn cassava into garri, then sell at a busy market where every price can be haggled, in pidgin. It runs in the browser on a mid-range phone: free, no download. You can visit other farmers, send gifts and agree prices in the farmers' forum. Yorùbá, Igbo and Hausa are coming soon.
Hi everyone, I'm Feyi, a designer.
Naija Farm started because most farming games are set somewhere that looks nothing like a Nigerian farm or market. I wanted one that does.
So the crops are ugu, egusi, cassava and rice. The pond holds catfish. Your helpers are Tunde, Amaka and Bello, cassava becomes garri in your own mill, and the traders at the market argue prices with you in pidgin.
I built it to run smoothly on desktop and also on a mid-range phone with no download, because that's what most people I'd like to play it use. It saves on your device, or to the cloud if you sign in with Google.
Two things I'd love your take on: do the first five minutes make sense, and does haggling at the market feel fun or fiddly?
Thanks for playing.
