Hi Product Hunt. I built MyCarPassport because of a problem I kept running into personally. I’ve always been obsessed with cars. I don’t work in the automotive industry, but over the years I’ve bought, owned, and sold more cars than I probably should have. Every car usually came with the same thing: a folder full of service history, invoices, receipts, MOT paperwork, inspection reports, and random bits of documentation. At first, that history always felt organised. Then real life happened. Invoices ended up in drawers. Receipts stayed in gloveboxes. PDFs sat in emails. Photos lived somewhere on my phone. And more than once, months after selling a car, I’d find a piece of its history that was now completely useless to me, but potentially valuable to the person who owned the car next. That was the frustration that started MyCarPassport. The problem I wanted to solve was simple: A car’s history should stay with the car — not disappear every time ownership changes. MyCarPassport is a digital vehicle history platform that helps owners organise, digitise, and verify a car’s service and maintenance records. Owners can upload invoices, receipts, and supporting documents, turning fragmented paperwork into a structured digital passport for their vehicle. Automotive businesses can then verify work they have completed, helping create a clearer and more trusted record of the car’s history. During the build, the idea evolved quite a lot. At first, I thought this was mainly about document storage - a better place to keep invoices and service records. But the more I explored it, the more obvious it became that storage alone wasn’t enough. The real value is trust. A folder of uploaded documents is useful, but a structured record that can be verified by the business that carried out the work is far more powerful. That shifted the product from being a simple digital garage into something closer to a vehicle passport: a trusted record of servicing, repairs, maintenance, inspections, and specialist work. That also shaped one of the most important parts of the platform: making verification easy for businesses. Garages and specialists should not need to create an account just to confirm a customer’s record. So MyCarPassport is being designed around simple verification links, allowing businesses to review and confirm work quickly, without friction. The long-term goal is to help owners, buyers, sellers, and automotive businesses create more transparent vehicle histories. Because every car has a history. MyCarPassport helps digitise and verify it. Would love your feedback, especially from car owners, enthusiasts, garages, dealers, and anyone who has ever tried to make sense of a pile of service invoices before selling a car.
