Mono Aware

Screen time limits that actually enforce themselves

Most screen time apps show you how bad your habits are. Mono Aware does something about it. Built on Apple's native FamilyControls framework — the same API powering iOS Screen Time itself — Mono Aware sets hard app limits that can't be bypassed by just deleting the app or ignoring a notification. When you're done, you're done. No guilt dashboards. No streaks. Just fewer hours lost to apps you didn't mean to open. Built independently by a single developer. Available now on the App Store.

Hey PH 👋 I built Mono Aware because every screen time app I tried tracked my bad habits really well and changed nothing. The problem isn't awareness — most of us already know we're on our phones too much. The problem is that nothing actually stops you. Mono Aware uses Apple's FamilyControls API to enforce real limits. It's not a nudge. It's a lock. The name comes from the Japanese concept mono no aware — the bittersweet awareness of impermanence. It shaped the whole design philosophy: time is finite, attention is finite, and most of us are spending both on autopilot. The app isn't meant to make you feel bad about your phone. It's meant to make you feel the value of the time you get back. Built this solo over several months, survived an App Store rejection, and it's live now. Would love feedback from anyone who's tried and failed with other screen time tools — you're exactly who I built this for. Happy to answer anything! Tom

Who hunted Mono Aware?

Mono Aware was hunted by Thomas Morgan. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
