Hey Product Hunt 👋 Modyak started as a deeply personal frustration: I love Claude Code and Codex, but I didn’t love being locked into one provider. Some days I want the smartest model money can buy. Other days I’m on a train and want everything running locally on my Mac. And sometimes I’m working on something sensitive and want the inference to stay in the EU. So the original problem was simple: why can’t I just pick a model from a menu, like I pick a Wi-Fi network? The first version was a 200-line Python proxy that translated Anthropic’s API to OpenAI’s. It worked, but it lived in my terminal, and every model switch was a dance of env vars and copy-paste. So I wrapped it in a native macOS menu-bar app, and that’s when it stopped being a script and started being a product. The biggest evolution came when Codex 0.125 dropped support for the Chat Completions API and forced everything onto the new Responses API. Suddenly the proxy had to translate in three directions: Anthropic Messages ↔ Chat Completions ↔ Responses. That rewrite took a week of late nights, but it’s the thing I’m most proud of — Codex now works seamlessly against literally every provider Modyak ships, including Anthropic-native ones. It’s 100% free, no telemetry, no paywall. You bring your own keys (or run local). I built it for myself and figured I’d share. And one of the most nice features: You can now use your ChatGPT (Codex) subscription within Claude Code. So no API keys needed, just connect your ChatGPT subscription to Modyak. Would genuinely love feedback — especially from people who use Claude Code or Codex daily. What providers should I add next? 🙏
