Hi PH! I'm Adrian, a student at EPFL, and I built mLearn because I wanted to learn Japanese by watching anime and reading manga without stitching together five tools and a subscription.

It's local-first: you drag in a video or open a manga/PDF, and everything, interactive subtitles with hover lookups, real-time OCR, the AI tutor, text-to-speech, even speech-to-text, runs on your machine. While you watch and read, mLearn passively tracks every word you encounter and builds a model of what you know, so reviews and the tutor adapt to you. Struggling words flow into spaced repetition automatically, into Anki if you already use it (AnkiConnect), or into the built-in SRS if you don't.

Cloud features (heavier models, voice cloning, device sync) are optional and free, with monthly quotas as anti-abuse limits rather than paid plans, but offline is the default. Windows/macOS/Linux + iOS/Android companions. Source-available under the Sustainable Use License.

I'd love to hear what content you'd learn with, I'm around all day for questions!
