Hello, everyone 🙏 I'm the maker of MIST and the founder of Vector Latte Studio.

People arrive at practice in different ways. Sometimes with a question. Sometimes with a feeling. Sometimes already knowing the practice and simply wanting to begin. MIST is designed to meet each of those arrivals equally. The idea is informed in part by the many-path view in the Bhagavad Gita and yoga philosophy: practice can begin through inquiry, contemplation, breath, or direct experience.

The app's design is also a response to three frictions I kept meeting in meditation apps.

  1. The "how are you feeling?" question at the door. A mood check-in can be useful, but some days I arrived with a question instead: what is a mantra meant to do? Why do some breathing practices use a longer exhale? Other days I already knew what I wanted, and having to identify with a mood first was a distraction, or even counterproductive.

  2. Past the door, a large catalog. Browsing aisles of sessions became a task of its own before practice could begin. I wanted a quiet room where the main practices are one gesture away.

  3. Atmosphere. Celebrity and influencer voices and faces were not what I wanted in a space kept for quiet.

Three frictions, one problem: noise. Noise at the door, noise in the choosing, noise in the room. So MIST is designed as a sanctuary rather than a store, built on three foundations: Knowledge, Breath, and Meditation. It assumes nothing about how you arrive.

  • No required mood check-ins and no endless catalog. A launchpad puts breathwork, open meditation, mantra, body scans, journaling, and music one tap away.

  • No celebrity presence, no feeds, no gamification. Neutral Guide voices and original ambient music keep the space visually and sonically coherent.

  • Five optional AI Guides offer different lenses for inquiry, drawing on Vedic and yogic sources, the Stoics, and scientific research. A Guide can answer a question, suggest a practice, or start one for you, including hands-free by voice. The conversation is always optional.

  • Journeys are short study arcs through contemplative texts and research: the Bhagavad Gita, the Stoics, the Upanishads, and interoception science. Each pairs a few minutes of reading with an optional practice. Distinct paths, not a required sequence.

MIST is free to begin. I'd especially value your feedback. Which way would you begin, and where does the experience still add friction?

Who hunted MIST?

MIST was hunted by Vector Latte. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
